No chance of Sars
Monday, June 02, 2003

Off to Toronto Tomorrow. I still haven't packed and have been leaving it in traditional fashion the absolute last minute. Sheil, Simon and myself have been swapping a lot of info about SARS as it is a worry. (particuarly after watching that doc the other day where a man in a lift in Hong kong sneezed and everyone on his his hotel florr contracted SARS).

Here's some stats: In Toronto nearly all the cases stem from one hospital and the people who died were all in their 70's.
From the Toronto Star- Saturday May 24th

In Canada your chances of dying from SARS are 1 in 1.3million
Compared to:
Railway Accident- 1 in 318 000
AIDS- 1 in 232 000
Asthma- 1 in 69 000
Murder- 1 in 57 000
Pneumonia- 1 in 3 500
Cancer- 1 in 467

So we have decided we are definetly going. I know next to nothing about the city so have been reading up, the bay area just looks amazing and I'm going to try and track down some digital venues.

While I'm away I hope my Celebdaq shares don't plummit too much and my garden survives the slug invasion. - on the advice of a lady at yesterdays car boot sale (also called Jeanie) I have been going out at night with a torch to catch them eating my new plants and have been removing them. My neighbours must think I'm insane.

Will write again from Canada. Get in touch if you have any Toronto recommendations. x
